Devean has already done a good job of narrating the battle, so I'll just add some of my thoughts and the lessons learned.

I've found in the past scarecrow hordes don't die quickly enough (and don't do enough damage to justify their continued existence!). So I've swapped them out for 3 regiments. They should take the first hit and then get out of the way for my reapers. At least that's the theory. In this battle the 'crows did more than the reapers.

A feature of the game was that my troops wavered – a lot. My units behind were often too close to pivot and just got stuck. That should be an easy fix. The reapers are great - if they into combat.

We've been playing 2500pts, to give some space for formations and the like. Since NS have nothing new, I looked elsewhere. The ghouls formation with a standard bearer comes in at 500pts. It also fits the style of the army, lots of infantry bodies. They represent a cult of 'stalker worshipers.
The ghouls really needed an unhindered charge. The ghekkotah were the same speed as them and the heroes faster. Maybe I should have used the fiends as chaff – charging the hero when baited, though the other hero could still have messed with some of them.

Good to hear your thoughts on the game! With the extra nerve buffer, nightstalkers do tend to waver a bit more but you got pretty unlucky with the sheer number of times they did. I also believe that it was my individuals that won this game for me. They are fast, can alpha strike and still survive and are very manoeuvreable.

    Thanks for writing in!

    Thanks!

We played on Universal Battle 2, an on-line platform, so there are no photographs 🙂

Very nice report! For the next, could you show us some true photographies?
