Edge of the Abyss

After the joyful feast the forces of Valdis grew stronger. His allies gathered near the mystical forests of Twilight Glades. His most impressive ally is graceful Mother of Horrors, ancient entity with immortal beauty and intelligence beyond mortal comprehension. She didn’t come alone – her beloved medusa Dastrana has led special squad – half-fiendish Possessed. They proved their usefulness many times before, fighting for Valdis. The Bolt Thrower’s crew reported that their gun was badly damaged since the last battle, and they are ready to repair it right in the heat of the upcoming battle.
Dark Lord Valdis found more portals in the forests. Also, from the back of the Black Shard he saw significant dwarfs’ forces near them. The next day Valdis ordered his army to advance to the portals at dusk.
Dwarves lined up. Their scouts, led by Herneas the Hunter himself, took up a position in the nearest thick grove. Abyssal riders were approaching them. Valdis unleashed dark magic, but suddenly he heard dwarven bawdry near him. It was a flying dwarf berserker! He tried to attack Valdis. But he didn’t see, that the Mother of Horrors was flying to him from behind. His life force fed the Abyssal riders, his lifeless husk was torn apart by Archfiend’s claws.
Rangers foolishly rushed into the melee with Abyssal riders. A few moments later stupid dwarves with their hero were surrounded and slaughtered. And one squad of Abyssal riders fled with heavy losses from the hail of bullets. A few moments later dwarves with rifles were crushed by Possessed and remaining Abyssal riders.
They took the brunt of the berserkers and two truly daring dwarven heroes, but survived! The Mother of Horrors channeled life force of the fallen warriors to them, but this was not enough. Berserkers finished them.
Then came Dark Lord Valdis with the Mother of Horrors and the Possessed. Valdis personally killed the hero on a brock, two heads were chopped at once. The dwarven standard was trampled into the mud, unarmored berserkers’ flesh was rend by abyssal claws and talons. It was a crushing victory, but with heavy losses. Yet more portals will be opened today.
