WHITE WALKERS VS. WILDMEN - under the Great Wall battle

! Disclaimer: I apologize in advance for possible errors in the text; I used a Google translator to translate the text into English.
1) This is my second game in the camp, against a very uncomfortable opponent - Varangur. I noticeably burned out because they are "Good" here (well I did not have time to collect them for the campaign). Units of this army are killing my troops before I can treat them in any way that I have already observed in past tournaments. In the opponent's roster, there was nothing unusual, just a powerful army that would carry me down in a melee, with a group of shooter ogres that were also unpleasant.
2) Deploying: at this stage I realized that I have few troops. I badly threw a cube, and my opponent put in just 2 units at once, and these were just wolves. The troops stretched opposite each other in a standard line, but on the left flank I lost already at this stage, it can be seen in the photo - the cavalry threatens my artillery. Therefore, I had plans to deal with the enemy troops on the first flank in a quick way, and then go to the left flank, on the way fulfilling the mission's goal - to penetrate the enemy half of the table.

Standing on the left flank
Standing on the right flank

3) The course of the battle: for me the battle began with the fact that my catapults missed. I'm not at all sure if they were at least once for the game - but they at least pulled the time on the left flank, distracting the wrath of Severians. The armies quickly moved closer, I tried to stay out of the enemy's charge, but I was mistaken, and the Sons of Kroagan procured my mummies-farewell, mummies! But my ghosts on the right flank were able to confidently attack the Varangur horde.
The enemy wolves for some reason decided to go help on the left flank, where everything for me was so sad, gnawing the rear of my zombies. Shooting the same ogre mercenary, too, was not effective - then a couple of wounds here, then a couple of wounds there, which in the end did not affect the course of the battle (except to destroying one of the catapults immediately). A small detachment of ghosts fought with the horde of Severians for a long time, but still managed to disperse them! In the end, I completely won on the right flank, but the enemy forces were already on their way. I got a charge of cavalry in zombies, but I managed to drive out the riders - they were injured by a dead pack of ghosts. I in vain ignored the hero Varangur - Cursed Son - and lost his necromancer, in addition, he is also considered to be the mission in my half of the table.

The situation at the end of the game. Comment, do you like the effect of snow on photos?

4) Outcome: the Varangur at the end of the game was the general on the juggernaut and the Damned Son, both in my deploy. General my zombies could not drive, we fell the 7th move and I decided to drive them into the zone of the enemy's deployment, so as not to lose the mission. I destroyed more detachments, but I only have 1 unit in the enemy zone, and Varangur has 2.
Fighting draw.
5) My expectations: everything went well. I was able to at least get a draw as a result, instead of the expected passage of Varangur to me skating rink. Of course, my opponent was a rather inexperienced player, but still ...
Next, I decided to dilute the report a bit with the history of the battle, but because of the inability to write everything in good English, due to the use of Google's translator, I'm not sure that this is a good idea. Read at your own peril and risk.
In any case - thanks for reading my report, I hope it was interesting, I tried! Write to the commentary what you think, put that rating that I deserve and recommend the report to other players!

Background of battle

...this day could be the next day of building the wall, if the foreman of the ogres that built the wall did not receive news of a large army of undead moving toward its site. The foreman was strong and brave is huge, so he immediately ran to the Varangur camp, which is located in a forest nearby. Close people would say that he was scared, but no! Just imagine how much courage it takes to negotiate with the harsh northern nomads for protection. I will not describe all his contradictory feelings that he experienced in the camp of harsh nomads, all the horror and hardships that he had to endure - but Varangur arrived on time (the very same ogre-master went to defend the wall alone, while his soldiers could fight because of the backs of the varangurs Impressive courage!). The undead army was able to catch still on the way to the wall.
Marwin the Mad, the Archlich of the Morgoth Army was preparing for the offensive. He saw ogres with crossbows, but they were too few, and he placed the army at ease.
- Arrange the catapults on the ancient hill and shoot my enemies, and then we will destroy the Wall!
His surprise was great, when a whole crowd of barbarians ran out to meet his army because of the terrain. Moreover, the ogres suddenly made a volley from crossbows along its artillery, and one of the catapults, pierced by a multitude of arrows the size of a half-skeleton rolled down the hill and capsized, crushing the staff. The battle did not begin as the magician intended.
Mummies turned out to be too slow, and the elite warriors of Varngur crushed them from the first attack, completely destroying the unit. But the ghosts of the undead, suddenly flew off almost from the walls located next to the horde of young warriors northerners hacked a bloody massacre. Marvin and his disciple, the youngest necromancer, successfully supported their troops, and dark energies pierced the air. However, the unconcerned general of the undead too late noticed the destruction of his troops on the left flank.
"What is dead cannot die!" Forward, my legions of zombies!
The cavalry Varangur, heated by previous victories, was surrounded by a crowd of rotting bodies. Among them were zombies with white skin, similar to the dead from the legends, and the north shook - even given that their formidable general was near.
"There are no cowards in my army, and let Korgaan be a witness of this!"
His sword outlined a bloody arc, and ready for the flight of the horsemen overtook a just punishment. The general of the northerners himself went on the attack, but his fighting maliciously got stuck in the grief of dead bodies - both his own and those of strangers.
Meanwhile, Marwin inspected the battlefield. Most of his army was lost, his teacher was slaughtered by the horrible-looking hero Varangur, who unequivocally shook his ax in his direction. Although there was a legion of zombies between them, and the ghosts were on the way, Archilich was not at ease. Without artillery, storming the wall, albeit unfinished, was stupid, and the battle was no longer meaningful. The army of the undead retreated, leaving behind a multitude of lifeless bodies.
From the tower, the foreman of ogres watched his workers, who wearily dropped their crossbows and wiped sweat from their foreheads. They did not see that surviving Varangurs surround them. Of course, the foreman of ogres did not tell them that the blood and skulls of his subordinates in the name of Korgaan would be a payment for the help of the northerners ..

Thanks for the feedback! I use a very old camera, 2006 – CASIO Exilim Hi-Zoom EX-V7, my phone gets worse photos – a soft flash is the only way to get a blurry photo. There is no tripod, but I’ll try to take pictures without flash – it depends on the coverage of the club where I play. In any case, I try to use the maximum capabilities of the camera and photoshop.

    Good batrep!

Regarding the pictures: They look good, and I always love a good snow theme, which you have here. If you have any way to lighten up the room, though, or the possibility to use a tripod (and longer exposure times) I think you could get even better pictures. It seems the flash is eating up some of the paint job and is focusing the light unfortunately.

I used to have my High Elves with snow bases, I really like the look. But I was the only one around doing so I was looking like santa claus in the middle of summer. So they moved to the woods. 😀

    Nice report and great photos

Great looking board and nicely painted minis! I’m impressed that you managed a draw with Varangur – they’re certainly among the most difficult opponents to face-off against.

Dude that’s awesome that you came up with this out of your mother tongue. Keep up the good work
