A great game against a great opponent.
The Brotherhood anchored their central infantry line among rocky outcrops, with the redemption knights and a unit of ploughshares to protect their left flank. On the right flank the exemplar forsaker lead his knights forward, backed up by a Forsaken beast, while the order of the brotherhood lurked behind amongst rocky terrain.
In response the undead horde moved slowly forward, a few lightning bolts doing little to dent the resolve of the waiting Brotherhood.
A Forsaken beast raced forward and once the flame of its breath cleared, a pair of smoking boots was all that remained of a necromacer. On both flanks the Brotherhood advanced cautiously trying to avoid the notorious surge magic of the undead.
But inevitably the undead swept forward, with wraith troops attacking the horde of martyrs and the exemplar forsaker. A horde of flying Barrow wights flanked the slew the beast, in the end thanks only to the brutality of their assault. Mhorgoth the faceless contemptuously stood before the spear horde.
Surprised by the speed of the assault, the martyrs panicked, failing to damage the wraiths, while the spear horde could do little to trouble the dark lord.
In response the wraiths leapt over and into the rear of the martyrs, while zombie trolls piled into their front. Believing the centre was taken, Mhorgoth and the Barrow Wights turned their baleful gazes to the right flank. Against all odds, the martyrs survived, and counter attacked the zombie trolls, typifying the spirit of the Brotherhood. Seizing their chance, the spear horde charged the Barrow wights and sent them back to their grave. Fierce battle was joined on the both flanks, although the redemption were repeatedly blocked from charging by the ploughshares lack of drill. A regiment of Forsaken knights soared into the undeads a rear field, untold charge opportunities awaited.
While the wraiths finished off the martyrs, the zombie trolls turned and were surged repeatedly towards the Forsaken knights, closer and closer but ultimately falling just short and being flanked and destroyed by the knights. Victory was in the Brotherhoods grasp as the remaining units scrambled for objectives, however on the right flank, the combined assault of a beast and brotherhood knights couldn't dispatch a horde of zombie trolls, who finished off the knights to snatch a victory for the undead....

Wow. Huge swings in the game and a great reminder for me of how dangerous surge can be.
