Edge of the Abyss

At first Holi Smotep was not in agreement to splitting the forces, but as scouting parties failed to return and sentries began to disappear, the cursed priest suspected Elven foul play. He could sense their forces encroaching and he felt exposed. One of the portals his troops had located was withing the confines of an old dark tower, the building was a ruin, but still defensible. Smotep decided to move his army there and await the return of Hotep and his forces.

His army was still a good size should trouble come he believed he would handle it, he motioned the army to move, and as one the troops staggered in the direction he willed them. It did not take long to locate the tower, which was looming in the dark, he could feel the pull of evil as power seeped from the portal within. Just as he believed the objective to be his, he heard a familiar screech as the shadow of a winged beast drifted across the ground of the glade ahead, this was quickly followed by a hail of death as the elven forces made their return known to the soldiers from the Empire of Dust.
