Deployment
Our infantry set up opposite each other in the centre. I had 2 regiments of men at arms and the Forlorn guard supported by 2 wizards and Domitus, he had the vanguard formation of a horde of skeletons and 2 regiments of revenants supported by a priest and scorpion (all of these units vanguarded taking the centre of the board in turn 1).

On my left I hid elohi and a phoenix behind a building next to an Abbess on chariot blocking Los from a horde of elite archers.

On my right a unit of paladin knights., panther lancers and ur elohi VS 2 catapults and 2 troops of archers and the eod special character.

Basilea turn 1
My elohi and Phoenix advance forward at the far left flank hoping to get a quick kill on the archer Horde but also pester some revenants in the center. The right flank of cavalry hurtle forward. There is no combat threat on their flank so I try close down the shooting ASAP. My centre tentatively advances and I cast weakness on the Horde of skeletons.

Eod turn 1
The panther lancers are hit by a catapult and several archer shots and a lightning bolt, they flee the field. My Forlorn guard are also hit by a catapult (he took 4 of them), and sustain 5 damage. My Abbess is struck by the archer Horde taking only 2 damage (and iron resolving one back!). In the center the Horde hits some men at arms, doing 3 damage.

Basileans T2
The knights and ur elohi hit a Troop of archers each on the left flank. The knights rout their target but the ur elohi only does 2 damage and bounces back. The elohi and Phoenix move within killing blow off the archers, the Phoenix breathing fire and causing 5 damage to them. My centre, I go into the Horde with 2 regiments of men at arms and the Forlorn guard but it's not enough to break them.

Eod T2
In the center my men at arms are attacked again by the Horde and waver. A unit of revenants and scorpion move across the wood making more targets come into the middle meatgrinder. My elohi get shot by the archery Horde, only taking 2 damage! A balefire hits the Forlorn guard but they hold again.

Basileans T3
The elohi hit the archer Horde and break them. They turn around to face some revenants who last turn wavered the Abbess. On the right, the paladin knights see they are needed in the center they ignore the catapults and head to the middle of the board. The ur elohi hits the Troop of archers again and fails to break them. My non wavering men at arms and the Forlorn guard for back into the skeletons but don't do enough.

EoD T3
The catapult with a vendetta against the Forlorn guard his them again and with they flee along with a Wizard who takes a fireball. The revenants against the Abbess this time do negligible damage and she holds. Some mummies who see the bait of my Wizard can't resist, charging him, hurting him and wavering him. On my left the revenant king bits my Phoenix disordering it and starting an endless and futile locked combat for several turns.

Basileans T4
The skeleton Horde crumbles under the final push of spear from the men at arms. The second unit of heavily damaged men at arms simply turn and hope for the best. On the right flank the knights in shining armour slam into the back of the mummies destroying them. They then turn back towards the enemies deployment zone with now very vulnerable looking catapults and wizards in front of them. The elohi hit some revenants in the flank, with the Abbess in the front but fail to break those dastardly skellies!

EoD T4
The character Wizard lightning bolts my Wizard off the table. The revenants on the left hit the Abbess but fail to break her. The heavily battered men at arms are hit by a scorpion and some revenants they decide they did their bit, now was there time to leave. All 3 balefires could not shoot.

Basileans T5
Domitus bravely charges the scorpion allowing the men at arms to take on the revenants, both hold easily. The Abbess charges and kills the other unit of revenants as the elohi fly towards the 2 catapults in the center. The ur elohi hits and kills one of the 4 catapults. The knights hit the EoD special character but he hangs on.

EoD T5
the knights suffer a heavy hit from a balefire but are steady. The scorpion counters Domitus doing 4 damage, the revanants counter the men at arms making them flee.

Basileans T6
2 more catapults are destroyed. Domitus not wanting to be double charged by a scorpion and revenants bravely runs away.

EoD T6
The EoD special character charges and breaks the paladin knights. The scorpion is surged a great distance and Domitus is caught unawares, he took 6 damage then fled from the monstrous beast.

Turn 7 alas did not happen.

The dust settled, a close game in fact as close as you can get. A perfect draw.

Another draw? I’m seeing a lot of those.

I also apologise for typos, I wrote this on my phone and predicted text took over a couple of times!

Full report done. I would not normally put that much effort in but felt I must considering the nature of the game. Apologies James if I don’t quite remember it all correctly.

It was a pretty good fight yes, Empire of Dust were bailed out by some mistakes in the last turn. You can see in the first photo, actually the end of battle (all in reverse chronological order I think), the scorpion has made it all the way across the battlefield to tread on Demetrius (nothing too serious I’m sure) and the green blob on the other side of the board is Arkhentan managing to finish off the knights. And, no embarassing turn 7 :).
