Edge of the Abyss

Arios Elvenking sneered as he surveyed the field from the back of Skarthang, as the ancient dragon circled above the clearing where his forces had met the orcish incursion. The savage creatures lay all about, slain by blade, bow, and dragon's flame.

A great giant, pierced by many arrows, and hamstrung by the palace guard, formed a macabre hill of sorts near the western flank. The leader of the orcs, a foul butcher of great renown, had escaped into the woods upon seeing his forces routed.

"Let him run," thought Arios. "Let him tell his mongrel kind that only death awaits them in the Twilight Glades."
